Sweet Adelines International: www.sweetadelines.com Sweet Adelines International is a worldwide organization of women singers, established in 1945, committed to advancing the musical art form of barbershop harmony through education and performances. This independent, nonprofit music education association is one of the world's largest singing organizations for women. "Harmonize the World" is the organization's motto. It has a current membership of 21,000 and holds an annual international singing competition.
Region 6 - Sweet Adelines: https://www.regionsix.org/ Our region is a membership organization of female singers, who meet regularly to practice, perform, socialize, and have fun. We currently have 19 choruses, made up of women of all ages, all walks of life, and from several states in the northern Midwest area of the US and also a part of Canada.
The main purpose of our region is to get out and sing for our community. We sing at annual shows, a number of community events, and at annual competitions. We also perform Singing Telegrams around Valentines Day. Our choruses are available to sing at your next function or event. If you're looking for a unique musical experience to liven up your event, please check out each chorus's website.
In addition to sharing our music with others, another great passion of ours is learning more about the art of a cappella singing. Vocal instruction is a regular part of chorus rehearsals and a very important component of the chorus experience. A couple of times a year we will receive coaching from a visiting master in the art of barbershop, where we learn many fabulous tricks of the trade.
